Council Contradictions:
On a not-so-fun, but "real" note, you can watch the March 10, 2009
Council marathon budget work session where the Mayor frequently
forgets that the work sessions are now shown on television, as she
refuses to allow her fellow council members to speak, or cuts them
off when making a point she does not wish to hear. Watch for the
"aha" moments when she realizes the cameras are on after each of
her diatribes. All this and her inability to propose solutions to dig a
way out of the budget mess she has created, while avoiding making
budget cuts that may affect "her" park. You can link to the video

One of our historical favorites is the controversy over Hooters in
Burnsville, and the Mayor's on-camera antics (alas, now lost to the
archives), in her attempt to keep the restaurant (and its scantily clad
waitstaff) out of town. In not-so-sharp contrast, we await with
anticipation the opening of the Mediterranean Cruise Café in the
Heart of the City. One wonders if the belly dancers at MCC will also
transplant from Eagan the practice of allowing patrons to put money
into the hips of their costumes. (A practice which apparently is not
acceptable culturally with regard to the origin of this art form). One
can only hope that a more appropriate method of compensating the
dancers can be generated before this restaurant opens in the
"family friendly" Heart of the City.
